Meet the Team!
We are excited to be working and competing in the 2023 ASCE Steel Bridge Competition
Charlotte Roarty is a senior Civil Engineering student at The College of New Jersey. As the team leader of the 2023 Steel Bridge Competition, she will be responsible for scheduling the meetings, leading fundraising efforts, organizing team tasks along with other responsibilities. Charlotte has previously interned at Dynamic Engineering Consultants, Michael Baker International, and Virtuoso Architecture which gave her the opportunity to work within various fields of civil engineering and construction. Additionally, Charlotte is the Secretary of TCNJ’s Chapter of The Civil Engineering Honor Society, Chi Epsilon as well as the Vice President of TCNJ’s Chapter of the Engineering Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi. Charlotte is also involved on campus as a Captain of the Women’s Tennis Team as well as the Social Media and Game Day Management Chair for the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). After graduating college Charlotte will be working as a Design Engineer for Dynamic Engineering Consultants, PC.
Connor Conyngham is a senior Civil Engineering student at The College of New Jersey. As the connections lead of the 2023 Steel Bridge team, he will be responsible for the connections that are necessary for connecting members of the bridge; strict adherence to the rules of competition is necessary for this role. Connor has previously interned at PSE&G, and J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, which gave him insight into project management and various other aspects of civil engineering. In addition, Connor is the Treasurer of Chi Epsilon, The Civil Engineering Honors Society, The College of New Jersey’s Chapter as well as the Secretary of TCNJ’s American Society of Civil Engineers Chapter (ASCE). Connor is also a soil mechanics lab assistant, and assists with junior level lab work. After graduating Connor is seeking to secure a job as Geotechnical Engineer or a Project Engineer at a large construction company.
Sean Healy is a senior Civil Engineering student at The College of New Jersey. As the members lead of the 2023 Steel Bridge team, he will be responsible for designing the members that are necessary to carry the loads placed on the bridge. Sean has previously interned at HNTB as a structural engineer intern, where he was involved in major bridge rehabilitation projects, including the Pulaski Skyway rehabilitation project. In addition, Sean is the Treasurer of TCNJ’s student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Webmaster/Editor for TCNJ’s chapter of Chi Epsilon. After graduating, Sean is seeking to secure a job as a Structural Engineer with a focus on bridge projects.
Paige Rocco is a senior Civil Engineering student at The College of New Jersey. As the Quality Control Lead of the 2023 Steel Bridge team, Paige will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the bridge design and construction comply with the competition rules and regulations. Paige has previously interned with the traffic department at Colliers Engineering and Design where she was able to gain valuable experience in the field of transportation engineering. Paige is the Secretary of Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity as well as an active member of Chi Epsilon, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and Delta Phi Epsilon. After graduating, Paige is seeking to secure a job as a Structural or Project Engineer.
Owen Soler is a senior Civil Engineering student at The College of New Jersey. As the CAD lead, Owen will be focused on the design aspects of the bridge whether it be for the connections, footings, truss members, or stringers. Everything that has to be designed for the competition will be done utilizing AutoCAD, whereas Visual Analysis will be used to perform analysis tests for the bridge designs to ensure a functional bridge. Owen has previously interned at Michael Baker International as a Civil/Highway Engineering Intern where he helped create scheduling and pricing reports, performed site visits, and worked with MicroStation to review plans for highway repairs. At The College of New Jersey, Owen is a part of the ASCE student organization, a member of Chi Epsilon, and serves as the President of his fraternity, Delta Tau Delta. After graduating, Owen is seeking to secure a job as either a Structural or Transportation Engineer.
